I took Cal Coast’s Jewelry Appraisal Course with Kathleen to learn about appraising, and provide appraisals for my Personal Gem Concierge business. Kathleen is an incredibly knowledgeable and experienced appraiser, with a professional and patient approach to learning. The course materials were thorough and provided in advance (I highly recommend taking time to go through them prior to the course). Additional customized materials to help consolidate information and resources for appraising were also provided – I have found these to be very valuable references! Cal Coast’s Jewelry Appraisal Course is a great option to acquire a strong foundation for appraising jewelry, to build on other jewelry-related education, and to offer appraising to clients. Kathleen is also very generous and supportive offering to help with questions and reviewing appraisals after the course. Her business is very busy and successful, yet she is invested in sharing her knowledge with others. I highly recommend Kathleen for appraisals, and for this course.

Kathleen is amazing! She is so helpful and took the time to answer all my questions! She definitely goes over and above! I would definitely recommend this workshop for jewelry professionals looking to get into appraising! Kathleen has it carefully planned to include as much practical information and resources as possible. I really appreciated the one-on-one nature of the workshop as it lets you go at your own pace and ask however many questions you need to. This workshop is perfect for GIA students like myself who have been recommended for appraising but aren’t sure where to begin learning and practicing. Kathleen has high standards for her business and uses only the best methodology, so you will learn from someone who is very trustworthy and ethical.

This is an excellent class that I highly recommend to appraisers of all experience levels! The class is jam packed with information on preparing professional appraisals with the highest standards. The quick reference guide that came with the class was incredible as well, it’s all of the most helpful information right at your fingertips. This workshop is brimming with the how-tos of jewelry appraising. Kathleen explains foundational concepts such as intended use, intended users, types of value, and approaches to value. She includes a plethora of examples and practice scenarios. Best of all, she provides both a workbook and a quick reference handbook to take with you. I left the workshop with a solid understanding of the appraisal process, and I know the next steps that I need to take. I highly recommend this workshop!
